Island Algoriddim is a Calgary-based Caribbean arts and culture platform dedicated to celebrating, preserving, and elevating Caribbean music, art, and culture. Through public programming, culturally rich events, educational experiences, and creative collaborations, we create spaces where Caribbean culture can be experienced, shared, and celebrated by all.
Our year-round programming brings together artists, DJs, cultural leaders, and community members through live music events, artist showcases, panel discussions, radio programming, wellness initiatives, open deck workshops, and community activations. Whether introducing new audiences to the richness of Caribbean culture or creating meaningful opportunities for the Caribbean diaspora to reconnect with home, Island Algoriddim is committed to strengthening Calgary’s cultural landscape while celebrating the many voices, traditions, and stories that make the Caribbean unique.

Carifest Pre-Party: Road to Carnival
Celebrate the start of Carifest weekend with an evening of Caribbean music and culture featuring Island Algoriddim’s founding DJs alongside guest Caribbean DJs and artists from across Calgary. This event serves as both the official kick-off to Carifest and an introduction to Island Algoriddim.

Rep Your Flag Fête by Calgary Soca
Join Calgary Soca for an evening celebrating the vibrant cultures of the Caribbean. Represent your island, connect with community, and experience the energy of Carnival through music, dance, and celebration. Be sure to catch an exclusive set from Island Algoriddim’s very own DJ Suppa D as he brings the sounds of the Caribbean to the dance floor.

Carifest Parade – Join Us On Di Road
Experience Carnival on the road with Island Algoriddim during the Calgary Carifest Parade. Community members are invited to join our mas band and celebrate Caribbean culture through music, movement, and masquerade as we travel through the heart of downtown Calgary.
August 30
Open Decks
A free community DJ workshop designed for aspiring and emerging DJs. Participants will have the opportunity to perform short sets using professional equipment while receiving guidance and mentorship from DJ Suppa D and DJ Badgyal in a supportive, collaborative environment. Spectators are welcome to attend.
September 5
Island Algoriddim Soft Launch
Celebrate the public launch of Island Algoriddim with an evening of conversation, live music, and community. Guests will learn about the vision, cultural roots, and future programming of the organization while enjoying curated DJ performances from our founding members and invited guest DJs.

Carifest Cool Down
Reflect on another incredible Carifest with an evening of conversation, storytelling, and celebration. This community gathering features panel discussions with cultural leaders and organizers exploring the history of Carifest, Carnival traditions, costume design, and the people who continue to shape Caribbean culture in Calgary.

Caribbean Wellness Day
In recognition of Caribbean Wellness Day, this event brings together health professionals, researchers, artists, and community members to explore wellness through a Caribbean lens. Through panel discussions, interactive activations, and meaningful dialogue, participants will examine the impacts of migration, mental health, and physical well-being within the Caribbean diaspora before closing the day with music and community celebration.

Caribbean Artist Showcase
An evening celebrating Caribbean creativity through live performances and artistic expression. The showcase provides a platform for local Caribbean artists to share their work while highlighting the richness and diversity of the Caribbean arts community in Calgary.
